Unlike a typical British summer's day, the rain held off for our 62nd village show, allowing everyone to enjoy the splenders of the 950+ entries on show in the marquee. By early afternoon, the marquee and field were rapidly filling up. The warm afternoon allowed everyone to enjoy the outdoor activities including the sheep shearing, 'mummy wrap', roller coaster and swing boats. Charlie Hook summed up the day superbly with his winning poem:
Our Village Show
A growing sense of anticipation
is spreading in our part of the nation
in every greenhouse and garden plot
on vines and bushes and many a pot
Fabulous fuchsias and ravishing roses
lovely lilies and petulant posies
a riot of colour is in the tent
providing a scintillating scent
All manner of handicrafts and arts
honey and photos, cakes and tarts
decorated wellies to home made wine
from the ridiculous to the sublime!!
Games and stalls and lots of treats
barbecue and cakes to eat
people they travel for miles to go
to our annual village show

Tickenham Flower Show was established in 1947 and is now in its 63rd year. The Flower Show is held annually on the third Saturday of August and provides a great opportunity to bring villagers together. Tickenham Flower Show is not just about flowers. Classes cover many different areas, including vegetables and fruits, art, domestic, wine making and photography. Also childrens' classes, with classes from all age groups. It is a great family event.
We are always looking for volunteers to either help on the committee or help on show day. If you are interested please contact show secretary Ann Loader.
Craft stalls can be found both in the Village Hall and on the village field, outside of the marquee. If you are interested in selling crafts during the show, please
"Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Flower Show. Had lots of interest in the waterwheels and one order so great from my point of view. It was a fab day and nice to see a proper village event. "
Did you know that the main source of income is from the Jumble Sales held in Tickenham Village Hall? Bargain hunters come from as far afield as Bristol. So, if you are looking for a bargain, look out for the Tickenham Flower Show Jumble Sales. And, of course, if you have jumble to contribute, please contact any of the committee members.
Help support the Tickenham Flower Show by becoming a Patron.
We have over 100 patrons supporting Tickenham Flower Show, but we always welcome more. All it costs is £5 per person. You get free entry into the show and privileged parking in the
